Q:What is 3D/4D ultrasound imaging?
Rendering a two dimensional ultrasound image into the third dimension is known as 3D imaging. The addition of time or motion creates the fourth dimension. Bub-scan aims to simultaneously provide 3D/4D images of your baby throughout your pregnancy as well as a positive bonding experience for mum and family. It is elective and does not replace the medical diagnostic scans you perform throughout your pregnancy.
Q:Do I need a referral?
No you don't need a referral. Simply call on 0449938910 and book today!
Q:Do I need to drink water before my scan?
No. Having a full bladder for this scan is not necessary. However, we do recommend you stay well hydrated throughout the day before your scan
Q:Are Ultrasounds safe during pregnancy?
Ultrasound utilises sound waves to obtain images. Extensive research has been carried and shown no harmful effects of ultrasound to mother or baby. Furthermore, at Bub-Scan, our qualified sonographers are able to utilise their experience to perform the scan with as low as reasonably achievable sound energy to obtain the desired images.
Q:When is the best time to have the scan performed?
Various factors influence the image quality of a scan, including maternal body habitus, foetal and placental position and amount of amniotic fluid. Generally, the gender can be seen from 14 weeks onwards. The best 3D/4D images are usually obtained between 28-32 weeks, taking into account the above mentioned factors.
Q:What if I don't get clear pictures of my baby?
We maintain very high standards at Bub-Scan. In some rare instances, we may be unable to obtain reasonable images. If this is the case, we may send you for a walk or ask you to have something to eat or drink, in an attempt to try and change the baby's position. Otherwise, we will offer you a free complimentary scan at a convenient time for you.
